Yorkie first came to our attention when he ran the inaugural Celtic in the Community camp at Shannon Town in June 2008. A charismatic figure in every sense of the word was popular with all the boys who attended. Luckily at the launch of our website Yorkie has agreed to write a regular column for us. His intention is to provide useful training hints and advice...well that's his intention anyway!!

UPDATE ON MY TEAM
Firstly i'm now doing the u/9's not the u/13's so its a real challenge, but i'm loving it, it also gives me a chance to coach my wee boy in the same team,,,,wee yorkshire is the keeper, we played our first games this weekend and we lost the first game then drew the second, i was very pleased with the way we played!
TIPS - Always have 'me time' that is the time given to yourself where you can really think what it is you want to achieve in the training session or the game you are going to play in, it is very important to analize the things you did ,NOT what the team did, can you improve, can you do better, can you help your team mates, what can i do to help my team mates, football is a team game and you need to help them, you do this by being the best you can be, and when you do this, everyone around you, will notice you,,,,, you need to keep doing your individual things but only IF this helps the team..........
DRILL
This month practice with your bad foot only for a full month, when you go back to using your good foot it will seem really really easy,,,,,,,

Hi Bhoys Yorkie here, I have been asked to right a column for your website which I am very happy to do. I am going to keep you updated on how my team is doing and give you some training tips on diet (editor - how dare you Yorkie? I saw you in McDonalds!) fitness practices etc.
Firstly a bit about myself. I have been coaching now for 17 years starting at Leeds United then moving to Coventry City. I moved up to Scotland and coached firstly at Motherwell before I got my dream job at Celtic FC.
I coach the U/13 academy team and the U/12 Centre of Excellence.
I was very happy to be asked to do the column and I will try and answer any questions that you may have as we go along.
I'm hoping to meet up with some of you if you come over to watch a Celtic match.
I will leave you now with a quick tip to start off:
Train hard, practice and the practice more! Enjoy your training and play for fun as well as to win. If you do these things you will do much better.
Go the hoops!!!!
