A Determined and gritty performance by Shannon Town eventually saw Mungret leave with the spoils but not before they had to battle for the points.
Mungret took an early lead but a dogged defensive performance kept Mungret out for the rest of the half, with about 10 mins of the half remaining Shannon Town got a deserved equaliser through a Brian OConnor penalty strike. Half time came and saw the sides level on a wet and greasy Corrib Drive pitch.
The second half saw Mungret assert their authority again quickly racing into a 3-1 lead but that wasnt the end of the story as both Darragh McMahon and Darragh Leahy grabbed a goal each to once again draw the game level.
As the game ebbed on, eventually tiredness got the better of the Town team and Mungret ran out 5-3 winners.
