Shannon Hibs 2 - Shannon Town Utd 4
Glen O'Brien 2, Jamie O'Shea, Jamie Martin
A two goal strike from Glen O'Brien saw the Town secure a priceless away win at local rivals Shannon Hibs.
New management team of Mike Hickey and James Ryan had a rude awakening after only a few minutes when Hibs struck an early lead. But this Shannon Town team are a good footballing side and they gradually fought their way back into the game. Glen OBrien broke free after about 20 mins too slot home a deserved equaliser for the Town. Some great work in defence by Killian Doody and Karl Fitzmaurice had swung the game back our way and after about 35 minutes Jamie OShea produced one of his special 'Hole In One' shots..........Beckham eat yer heart out, half way line, over the keepers head..........2-1.......seen it all before though with Master O'Shea.
Half Time 2-1 to the Town.
The lads were now playing some great soccer and it wasnt long before goal poacher Glen O'Brien made it 3-1. Darragh King was working hard in midfield, Jason McMahon was having a fine game and Jack Carrig was bouncing up and down the left wing. A fine run by Jack Carrig nearly produced a fine individual goal only spared by the Hibs upright at the last minute. Jamie Martin slotted home a 4th goal soon after and the lads were now cruising.
Jordan Downes was working well on the right and keeper Karl Dillon showed some good handling. Hibs got a penalty in the last 10 minutes which was converted to make the score look a little more respectable but it was the Town that took the spoils on Derby day.
Well done lads and well done to the new management team, a great start!!
